About Me

I have been an active musician and independent piano teacher in the Chicago area for over thirty-five years. I have a B.A. in Music Theory from DePaul University where I studied classical piano with Melody Lord Lundberg. In addition, I studied jazz with Alan Swain in Evanston. I was one of the original staff pianists at Nordstrom Old Orchard when the store opened in 1993 and have extensive experience playing piano in the many hotel lobbies in the greater Chicagoland area, as well as on the cruise ships docked at Navy Pier. I have been a choir director, a worship leader, a camp music director, and I continue to compose and arrange music on a regular basis. In a previous life I played guitar and performed solo as a singer-songwriter as well in ensembles performing music as diverse as Balkan and bluegrass.

The goal I have for her piano students is that they will become life-long music lovers, ideally continuing to play piano with joy and enthusiasm for the rest of their lives. She has taught students as young as five and as old as 85.

In my non-music life I do audio editing for a weekly podcast which airs over an internet-based radio station and I’m teaching myself Ancient Greek…because why not?
